RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The No. 6 UW-River Falls women's hockey team extended its win streak with a 2-0 shutout win over UW-Superior Saturday afternoon.
Madi Nolan got the Falcons on the board first with a goal at 5:44 in the first period.
Alyson Niebur and
Kiana Gilbraith assisted on the play.
The Falcons had a power play opportunity in the second period but were unable to capitalize. Neither team was able to score in the second
At 4:46 in the third period, Mandy Tomlinson was called for hooking and the Falcons went on the power play attack. One minute later,
Ashley Effertz fired a shot over the glove hand of the Yellowjacket goal tender. She was assisted on the play by
Erin Olson. The Falcons took a 2-0 lead and were able to hold onto that lead through the end of the game.
Each goaltender had 25 saves in the game.
Bella Wagner had a shot on goal in each period and had a total four shots on goal.
The Falcons now 8-1 on the season host Gustavus Adolphus Dec. 5
