RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The No. 5 UW-River Falls women's hockey team puts up a 2-1 victory over No. 9 Gustavus Adolphus College on Wednesday night.
It was a scoreless first period for the teams with the Falcons putting 5 shots on goal. The Gusties would put up 10 of their own.
It was at 5:43 into the second period when a shorthanded goal by freshman
Madi Nolan with assists by
Julia Stelljes and Abibail Stow was scored to put the Falcons up 1-0. The lead would last until the ninth minute of the second period when Gustie senior forward Madison Bergren found the back of the net.
Madi Nolan would score what ended up being the game winning goal 54 seconds into the third period, her second of the game and fourth of the season. She was assisted by
Abigail Stow her fifth assist on the season. The Falcons would hold Gustavus off and take the 2-1 win.
Both teams had a penalty a piece, each occurring in the second period. Falcon goaltender
Sami Miller had 18 saves on the night.
The Falcons, now 9-1 on the season, hop on the road to St. Peter, MN on Saturday December 8th to take on Gustavus once again. The puck drops at noon.
