Box Score APPLETON, Wis. (uwrsports.com) – After getting shut out the previous night, the Falcon men's hockey team came back with a vengeance defeating Lawrence University 5-1 Saturday afternoon. The Falcons scored three third-period goals to secure the win.
Blake Anderson was called for boarding in the first period and had a five-minute major penalty forcing he Falcons to play down a man.
Eddie Matsushima however was able to put away a shot-handed unassisted goal at 11:49. Two minutes later, with the Vikings still on the power play opportunity, Vincent Deekumbis scored the lone Lawrence goal of the night.
In the final two minutes of the second period,
Aussie Miller broke the 1-1 tie scoring on a pass from
Christian Hausinger and Eddie Matsishima.
Scoring in the third period was
Mike Sauer at 8:57. He was assisted on his goal by Joe Drapluck ad
Aussie Miller.
Cayden Cahill scored at 16:34 to put the Falcons up 4-1. With fifty seconds remaining in the game,
Zach Benson scored the fifth and final goal of the night.
Matsishima and Miller each finished the night with a goal and an assist.
Joe Marcouiller got the win for the Falcons recording 24 saves and only giving up one goal.
The Falcons now 5-4-3 on the season finish out the first half of the season hosting Milwaukee School of Engineering December 15
th at Hunt Arena. Puck drop will take place at 3:05.
