Platteville, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls men's basketball team traveled to take on UW-Platteville in a WIAC Semifinal game on Friday night. The Falcons got out to an early lead and hung on to knock off the #1 seeded UW-Platteville 71-66. The Falcons advanced to the WIAC Tournament Championship game for the 3rd straight year, on Sunday.

WHAT HAPPENED
- The Falcons opened the game on fire. Alex Herink's 3 point basket would give the Falcons an 11-2 lead three minutes into the game.
- The Flacons maintained the pressure as a Brennan Witt lay up made the score 21-10 by way of the Falcons.
- The Pioneers went on a run of their own, getting back into the game and narrowing the Falcon lead to four after Quentin Shields laid one in making it 24-20 with just under five minutes to play in the first half.
- The action continued to go back and forth. Devin Buckley hit a jump shot to give the Falcons a 37-30 lead at the half way point.
- A Brennan Witt lay up five minutes into the second half gave the Falcons a six point lead, 41-35.
- After the Falcons extended their lead to as much as 11, the Pioneers got right back into the game after both free throws were knocked down by Matt Oestreich. Falcons lead 46-40 with 11:19 to play in the game.
- The Pioneers got the game within two after a Robert Duax jumper made it 53-51 Falcons with just under seven minutes to play.
- The Pioneers took their first lead in the second half with 2:57 to play in the game after Carter Voelker laid one in. 62-61 Pioneers.
- The game would be tightly contested down the stretch. The Falcons showed to be more composed in the big moments. Devin Buckley would ice the game with a bank shot, desperation shot from beyond the arc with fourteen seconds remaining and the Falcons held on to win 71-66.
