River Falls, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – After a long layoff the UW-River Falls women's hockey team came out with a strong performance against St. Scholastica leading to a 3-1 victory.
Jessie Andersen would score the game winner almost halfway through the 1
st period.
Callie Hoff put the game away with a great defensive play in the Saints zone for a big short-handed goal late in the third period.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST ST. SCHOLASTICA
- Kora Torkelson got things going for the Falcons with her 9th goal of the season as she one-timed a cross-ice pass from Hailey Herdine for a 1-0 lead.
- A couple of minutes later Jessie Andersen would make it 2-0 for the Falcons as she scored off a rebound from out front. The goal was Andersen's 4th of the season and she was assisted on the goal by Payton Rudiger.
- The 2nd period saw the Falcons continue the offensive attack as they out shot the Saints 20 to 6 for the period.
- Saints goaltender Lexi Thomeczek came up big stopping every shot that came her direction in the period.
- The Saints though would take advantage of a Power Play as Alexia Klass would score as the power play ended to cut the lead to 2-1.
- In the 3rd period the Falcons would put the game away with the Saints on the power play. The Falcons would clear the zone, and the puck would go just wide of the Saints net. Callie Hoff would get to the loose puck at the same time as the defender. Hoff took the puck away from her, skated out front, and buried in the far side of the net for a 3-1 lead.
- St. Scholastica would pull their goaltender with over two minutes to go, but were unable to score.
- Angie Hall finished with 12 saves in the game.
THE OPPOSITION
- Lexi Thomeczek finished with 48 saves in the contest.
- Alexia Klass scored her 9th of the season for the Saints.
LOOKING AHEAD
The UW-River Falls Falcons women's hockey team returns to the ice this Saturday for their last home game of the season against UW-Eau Claire at Hunt Arena. The puck drops at 2:05 PM.
