River Falls, Wis. - (uwrfsports.com) - The UW-River Falls tennis team hosted Hamline University on Sunday afternoon. The Falcons ended their 2018 Spring season on a high note on Senior Day competing against Hamline University. The Falcons came close to knocking off the Pipers in a close match that came down to the last 2 singles matches. The Pipers lead after doubles 2-1. Molly Deering and Karli Helland were the lone doubles victors for the Falcons at the #3 position. Hamline gained a 4-1 advantage after Asfeld lost at #1 and Haglund at #3 singles. Falcon wins by Helland at #6 and Otto at #2 closed the gap to 4-3 with 2 matches remaining in which both went to 3rd set Super Tie Breakers after splitting sets. Deering #4 was unable to gain the advantage and the Pipers locked up the victory just before Andress #5 closed out her match with a victory. The Falcons honored lone Senior Molly Deering. Deering played all 4 seasons for the Falcons in the Varsity lineup.

- Brittany Asfeld fell in straight sets in #1 singles 6-1, 6-1.
- Delanie Otto came back to win in the super tie breaker in #2 singles 6-3, 2-6 and the tie breaker 13-11.
- Krista Heaglund fell in #3 singles in straight sets 7-5, 6-2.
- Molly Deering fell in #4 singles after a great battle, winning the first set 7-5, losing the second set 6-3, and finally fell in the tie breaker in a close match, 10-8.
- Hannah Andress battled to a victory in #5 singles 6-4, 6-7, and pulled away in the tie breaker, 10-5.
- Karli Helland made a monster come back in her #6 singles match, after falling 6-4 in the first set, won the second set 6-0 and the tie breaker 10-7.
DOUBLES
- The team of Brittany Asfeld and Delanie Otto fell in #1 doubles 8-2.
- Krista Hagulund and Hannah Andress battled in #2 doubles but fell in 8-4.
- Molly Deering and Karli Helland battled for a hard fought victory in #3 doubles 8-6.
