Women's Soccer Battles Back for 2-1 Win

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) - The Falcons surpassed last season's win total with their sixth win of the season on Sunday afternoon against Concordia-Moorhead. UW-River Falls trailed for a majority of the game but finally went ahead in the 86th minute when Maggie Koehler found Camryn Altnau for her eighth goal of the season.

UWRF was the first to attack in the first half when Rachel Windingstad forced two saves from goalie Maddy Reed in the opening 15 minutes. Amanda LaDue began to be tested in goal, making one save and facing three shots before Karsen Granning scored off of an assist from Samantha Dalsin to put Concordia up 1-0 in the 34th minute. Mariah Troje had three shots in the first half, but the Falcons still went into the break trailing by a goal.

Sarah Liimatta picked up a yellow card for the Cobbers in the 50th minute, and UWRF began to apply more pressure on Concordia-Moorhead. The Falcons got on the board in the 65th minute when Michelle Weinberg scored her first goal of the year to tie the game at 1-1. UWRF forced six saves from Reed in the second half, while LaDue only faced one shot on target from Concordia. Kari Rollo picked up a yellow card for the Falcons in the 78th minute in a game that saw 17 fouls overall, 10 of which were on Concordia.

Altnau subbed in for Erika Lagoon in the 85th minute and scored less than a minute later on Koehler's fifth assist of the season, most of which have been to Altnau. The Cobbers fired three shots in the final minute of the game, the last which was saved by LaDue to clinch the game at 2-1. The Falcons also had five more corners than Concordia and seven more shots on goal than their opponent.

UWRF is now 6-2-1 as they enter WIAC play against UW-Stout on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
