Box Score RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) - The Falcons came away with a 3-2 win in overtime in a tight game against Hamline in St. Paul on Saturday afternoon. It took until the final minute of the first overtime for
Kari Rollo to score off of a pass from
Katie Marthaler to seal the victory. Rollo had only subbed back into the game in the previous minute, with the goal coming after a corner kick by
Rachel Windingstad.
Hamline got on the scoreboard first in the 42nd minute on a Jensen Sevening goal straight from a corner to go up 1-0 before halftime.
Amanda LaDue subbed in for
Haley Crosby at halftime for UWRF, who recorded four saves in the second half.
Camryn Altnau scored her sixth goal of the season off an assist from
Maggie Koehler in the 48th minute and Koehler quickly made it a 2-1 game after taking a pass from
Mariah Troje and putting it past goalkeeper Dani Wright in the 54th minute.
Ashlee Olson scored her third goal of the season in the 80th minute to tie the game up, and both teams entered overtime tied at two after 90 minutes. The Falcons had the advantage of three shots to one in overtime, with the final shot coming from Rollo for her first game-winning goal of the year and her second goal of the season.
The teams were incredibly close on Saturday, with the Falcons being outshot 17-16 but having an advantage in shots on goal 10-8. Both teams had five corners and UWRF committed one more foul than the Pipers.
UWRF returns home on Tuesday to host Northland College at 4 p.m. The Falcons defeated Northland 7-0 last season and lead the all-time series 8-0-1.
