RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) - UW-Oshkosh used a 20-2 scoring run in the first half to build a 23-point halftime lead that helped them run away with a 91-56 win over UW-River Falls on Saturday night in Oshkosh. The Titans have now won 13 games in a row this season, while the Falcons dropped to 0-4 in the WIAC.
The Falcons stayed close in the opening minutes, only trailing 9-7 after
Matt Keller knocked down a jumper four minutes into the game. However, the Falcons didn't hit another field goal for the next six minutes, a stretch where the Titans went 8-12 from the field and went up by 21 points. UWRF brought the game back within 15 points after a jumper from
Julian Jackson with three minutes remaining in the first half, but UW-Oshkosh closed the half on a 10-2 run to solidify their lead. The Titans went into the break shooting 7-11 from beyond the arc and over 50 percent from the field.
Austin Heidecker had nine points and nine rebounds at the half, and he would finish as the Falcons leading scorer with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Jackson finished with 12 points, while no other Falcons' player finished with more than seven points. All five Titans' starters finished in double figures, highlighted by 18 points and 15 rebounds from Jack Flynn. Ben Boots also led UW-Oshkosh with five assists.
UWRF (7-8) will aim to pick up their first conference win of the season when they host UW-Stout (6-9, 0-4 WIAC) at Page Arena on Wednesday night. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
