ASHLAND, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – Seven different Falcons scored in the women's hockey 7-0 win over Northland College Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons scored four goals in the first period and three in the second to capture the sweep of the Lumber Jills.
Erica Schramel scored the first goal at 2:32. She was assisted on the play by
Reilly Springman and
Madi Nolan. Four minutes later,
Erin Olson scored on a pass from Same Young and
Jamie Bird. With less than two minutes left in the period,
Callie Hoff found the back of the net.
Madi Nolan scored the Falcons fourth goal in the period and was assisted by
Abigail Stow and
Alyson Niebur.
In the second period,
Kathryn Larson got the scoring rally going when she scored a power play goal at 4:20.
Callie Hoff and Jessica Bid assisted her on the goal. Ashley Effert scored another power play goal for the Falcons at 7:09. The Falcons seventh and final goal of the night came at 11:10 when Sophia Long got the puck past the Lumber Jill goaltender.
The Falcons had 44 shots on goal and were able to hold the Jills to only nine total shots. With the win,
Sami Miller improves to 7-1 on the season.
The Falcons return to WIAC conference play January 18
th when they take on the Pointers of UW-Stevens Point at Hunt Arena. The matchup is set to take place at 7:05.
