Women's Hockey Scores Eight in Win

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) The No. 6 UW-River Falls women's hockey team pulled off the weekend series sweep of UW-Stevens Point Saturday afternoon with an 8-1 win.
 
Kora Tokelson got the Falcons on the board first in the final minute of the first period.  She scored her unassisted goal at 19:11.
 
In the second period, the Falcons scored two more goals.  The first was by Callie Hoff at 3:51.  She was assisted on the play by Jessica Bird and Erin Olson.  Erin Olson scored the second goal at 7:03 on a pass from Callie Hoff and Jessica Bird. 
 
The Falcons scored five goals in the third period.  The first game at 3:46 when Callie Hoff scored her second goal of the afternoon.  She was assisted by Jessica Bird.  At 7:05, Kathryn Larson found the back of the net on a pass from Sam Young and Alyson Niebur.  The third goal of the period was by Reilly Springman at 10:17.  She was able to sneak one past the Pointer goalie to give the Falcons a 6-0 lead.  Thirty-four seconds into the Falcons only power play opportunity Jamie Bird scored herself a goal.  She was assisted by Callie Hoff and Erica Schramel.  Kora Torkelson finished out the afternoon with a last second goal at 19:51.  The goal was her second of the afternoon and she was assisted by Hailey Herdine. 
 
The Pointers were able to get one goal on the board and break the Falcons three game shutout streak.  They scored at 15:13 in the third period. 
 
The Falcons outshot the Pointers 49-17.  Callie Hoff had eight shots on goal with two goals and two assists.  Jessica Bird had one goal and three assists for a four-point day. 
 
The Falcons now 17-2 and 5-0 in WIAC play ravel to UW-Superior Friday January 25th for a weekend series.  Game time in Superior is set for 7:05 p.m.
