RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls women's hockey team extended their win streak to nine with a 2-1 WIAC conference win Saturday night over UW-Superior.
The Falcons scored two goals in the first period and remained quit the rest of the game.
Alyson Niebur scored first at 13:22 in the first period. She was assisted on the play by
Erica Schramel and
Hailey Herdine. With 52 seconds remaining in the period,
Madi Nolan scored a power play goal after the Yellowjackets were called for tripping.
Abigail Stow and
Reilly Springman assisted on the goal.
The Yellowjackets scored their lone in the second period at 8:13.
The Falcons were 1-4 on power play attempts. The defense kept the Yellowjackets from scoring on their two power play opportunities. Offensively, the Falcons had 41 shots on goal compared to Superiors 14.
Callie Hoff had seven shots and multiple players had four.
The No. 5 Falcons, who are now 19-2 and 7-0 in WIAC play, face off against Bethel University January 30
th in St. Paul. Fame time is set for 7 p.m.
