WINONA, Minn. (uwrfsports.com) – The No. 6 ranked UW-River Falls picked up a 6-3 nonconference win Tuesday evening against St. Mary's University.
Reilly Springman scored two goals in the first period to get the Falcons on the board first. Her first came at 2:17 on a pass from
Abigail Stow and
Madi Nolan. She scored again at 9:08. This time she was assisted by
Erica Schramel and Stow.
Haley Nielsen added a third Falcon goal in the first period when she scored at 11:18. With less than two minutes remaining in the first period the Cardinals scored a single goal to bring the first period score to 3-1.
The Falcons scored two more goals in the second period.
Madi Nolan scored first at 7:37.
Abigail Stow again assisted as well as
Kiana Gilbraith. Jessie Anderson scored nine minutes later.
Abigail Stow got her 4
th assist of the night by aiding Anderson on the goal.
In the third period, the Cardinals scored 54 seconds in cutting the Falcon's lead in half.
Alyson Niebur answered back by finding the back of the net at 15:32.
The Falcon defense shut down two Cardinal power play opportunities. Goaltender
Sami Miller got the win. She had 22 saves and gave up three goals in her 60 minutes of play.
Offensively,
Abigail Stow lead the way with six shots on goal. She added four assists to her night. Springman ended the night with two goals and five shots on goal.
The Falcons now 13-2 on the season travel to Northland College for a weekend double header. First game is Friday night at 7 p.m.
