Falcons Fall to Bethel in Matchup at Home

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The women's basketball team hosted Bethel University on Wednesday night.  The Falcons were right with the Royals until the last two minutes of the first quarter when Bethel went on a 14-2 run.  The Falcons struggled to put points on the board in the second quarter, scoring just one point after the five minute mark.  The second half was more productive overall for the Falcons, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Royals. The Falcons fell 52-85.

WHAT HAPPENED
  • The Falcons were outscored by the Royals in all four quarters of the game.  The Falcons went 7-22 from the floor, shooting 31.8 percent.   
  • UWRF hit 5-11 from the free throw line in the first half, 45.5 percent.   
  • Bethel dominated in points off turnovers 39-9; 20-3 in the first half.  The Falcons had 16 first half turnovers. 
  • Overall the Falcons scored just three 2nd chance points in the game, all coming in the first half.  The Falcons finished the first half with four offensive rebounds, eight total for the game.
  • The Falcons went into halftime down 20-36.

  • Jenna Zeman was the leading scorer for Falcons with 11 points on 2-8 shooting, 1-3 from behind the arc, as well as 6-6 from the free throw line. 
  • Brianna Koop scored 10 points for UWRF on 3-6 shooting, as well as hitting 3-6 free throws. Cassie Heinrichs contributed 8 points in the Falcons loss. 
  • UWRF made 15-47 shots (31.9 percent) from the floor in the loss. They went 4-14 from behind the arc (28.6 percent), and hit 18-28 free throws (64.3 percent).

THE OPPOSITION
  • BU was led by Taite Anderson with 29 points. She shot 12-16 from the floor and went 5-7 from the free throw line.
  • Makenna Pearson and Kat Brown-Erdahl each scored 13 points in the game.
  • From the field the Saints shot 34-66 (51.5 percent) and 4-14 (28.6 percent) from downtown.  They also shot 81.3 percent from the free throw line, 13-16.

UW-River Falls will participate in the UW-La Crosse Thanksgiving Tournament next weekend, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.
