Falcons Top Superior at Home

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls men's basketball team hosted UW-Superior on Thursday and cruised to a 98-72 win.  The Falcons had a solid first half, shooting 61.8 percent.  They went on a 9-0 run midway through the half.  The Falcons continued their strong play in the second half, never allowing Superior to get within 17 points.

WHAT HAPPENED
  • The Falcons shot 61.8 percent in the first half, hitting 21-34 shots.  Noah Hanson went 6-6 from the floor, 5-5 from beyond the arc, claiming 17 total first half points.  He also grabbed six rebounds in the half.
  • Hanson played 19 minutes in the first half.  Jack Stensgard played 17 minutes and contributed seven points and three blocks in the half. 
  • The Falcons shot 61.8 percent from the floor overall and 61.5 percent from behind the arc, hitting 8-13 three-pointers.
  • UWRF went into half time with a 17-point lead, 51-34.
  • The Falcons shot 59.4 percent in the second half (19-32) and also went 5-7 from the free throw line.
  • Austin Werdin had 12 points in the second half, hitting 5-6 from the floor and 2-2 from the free throw line, all just in six minutes of game play. 
 
IN-DEPTH LOOK
  • Noah Hanson was the team's high scorer, finishing with 17 points, hitting 6-9 from the floor and 5-7 from behind the arc.  He also finished with nine rebounds.  
  • Jack Stensgard had 14 points, making 6-10 from the floor.  He also had four assists, three blocks, and two steals.
  • Alex Ohde and Austin Werdin finished with 13 and 12 points respectively.
  • The Falcons made 40-66 (60.6 percent) from the floor, 12-24 (50 percent) from behind the arc, and 6-8 (75 percent) from the free throw line. 

THE OPPOSITION
  • Vid Milenkovic had 16 points, leading Superior.  He hit 7-10 from the floor, including 2-4 three-pointers.
  • As a team, Superior made 27-66 field goals (40.9 percent), 11-27 (40.7 percent) from behind the arc, and 7-11 (63.6 percent) free throws.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
