SUPERIOR, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls men's hockey team tied UW-Superior 1-1 Friday night.
Neither team was able to score in the first two periods. The Falcons outshot the Yellowjackets in the first period 9-8. The Yellowjackets got the shot edge in the second period outshooting the Falcons 13-8.
The Yellowjackets broke through the scoreless run scoring at 8:09 in the third period.
Joel Frazee evened it up at 14:18 on a pass from
Cayden Cahill and
Peter Karavos. The goal was on the power play opportunity that came after Superior was called for tripping.
Joe Marcouiller recorded the tie with 34 saves.
Ryan Cusin had a game high seven shots on goal and
Eddie Matsushima recorded six.
The Falcons who are sitting fourth over all in the WIAC standings host UW-Stout Saturday night at Hunt Arena. Puck drop is 7:05 p.m.
