RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The No. 5 UW-River Falls women's hockey team started their post season run with an impressive win over the fourth seed UW-Superior Friday night. The Falcons defeated the Yellowjackets 4-1.
The Falcons struck first scoring the first goal of the night at 1:38.
Erin Olson scored on a pass from
Kathryn Larson. At 10:48,
Bella Wagner scored a power play goal ten seconds into the opportunity. She was assisted on the play by
Abigail Stow and
Haley Nielsen.
Erin Olson struck again in the second period scoring her second goal of the night at 5:09. This time assisting her on the play was
Erica Schramel.
Kora Torkelson scored the fourth and final goal of the night for the Falcons at 10:48.
Superior scored a lone goal in the second period at 16:30.
Overall, the Falcons outshot the Yellowjackets 33-9. The Falcon defense only allowed the Yellowjackets three shots on goal per period.
The two teams will meet again Saturday at 2:05 p.m. at Hunt Arena. If the Falcons win they will move on and host the championship game.
