Gina Jablonski doubled her season-high for goals in a game with an outstanding eight goals to lead UW-River Falls to a 26-13 win over the University of Dallas on Saturday. The Falcons were able to fire 49 shots against the Crusaders in the dominant offensive performance, as
Sophia Leong added five goals for the second consecutive game.
Reilly Springman and
Emma Kohlbeck also completed hat tricks, while Kohlbeck,
Lexy Meinert and
Hanna Helms all had three assists apiece.
Five different Falcons' players scored in the first 11 minutes of the game to go up 5-2, but the University of Dallas was able to close the gap back within one after goals from Lexi Leite and Erika Keever. UWRF ended the half on a 9-3 goal run to take a 14-7 advantage into the half. Jablonski was able to score her fourth goal of the half while the team was a man down after a yellow card on
Emma Moonen. Springman and Jablonski were able to both score within the final minute of the first half to build the seven-goal lead, and the Falcons were able to maintain possession by converting on 22-26 clear attempts.
The Crusaders struck back with two goals in the opening five minutes of the second half and managed to score five of the first seven goals to make it a 16-12 game with 22 minutes remaining. Jablonski and Kohlbeck responded with goals to end the scoring slump, and UWRF only allowed one goal for the rest of the game. Eight different players scored for the Falcons in the dominant victory, and both teams were held scoreless in the final 7:32 of the game. The Falcons improve to 5-4 on the season after winning all three of the games they played in Texas over spring break. They had a 63-32 margin of victory in the three games and averaged 21 goals per game.
Leite had five goals for the Crusaders, and Jordyn Buell made 15 saves in goal during the loss.
Ashley Olson made five saves in goal for UWRF and is now 2-2 on the season.
The Falcons will return home for their first home game in program history when they host Hamline at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Ramer Field.
