Softball Travels to Eau Claire to Take On the Blugolds

Eau Claire, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls softball continued conference play as they traveled to UW-Eau Claire.

WHAT HAPPENED IN GAME 1
  • Kaia Dorn led the game off with a single to left field and was able to reach second on a pop fly play.  She was then caught stealing at third base.
  • The Blugolds had their most productive inning of the night in the bottom of the second.  They scored 5 runs on 5 hits, including four singles and a double by Varian. 
  • The Falcons responded in the top of the 3rd inning with back-to-back singles by Noelle Senour and Karina Monson. The runners advanced on a SAC bunt by Rebecca Daley.  Despite the positive start in the inning, the Falcons were unable to capitalize. 
  • UWEC added two runs on three hits in the bottom of the third, increasing their lead to 8-0.
  • UWRF was unable to get on the board the remainder of the game, and it was finished in 5 innings.
  • The Falcons ended with 5 hits on the night.
     

    WHAT HAPPENED IN GAME 2
  • The second game of the afternoon started out scoreless for both teams until the bottom of the 3rd inning.  In the first two innings the Falcons only gave up to hits.
  • UWEC scored 3 runs on 3 hits in the bottom of the 3rd inning, including a homerun by Arneson. 
  • The balance of the game remained quiet until the Blugolds put one more run up on two hits in the bottom of the 6th
  • The Falcons ended with 5 hits for the game, including a double by Monson.
