WINONA, Minn. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls women's volleyball team started out its 2019 season with a pair of wins at the Ground Round Sugar Loaf Classic in Winona, MN. In the first match, the Falcons beat Luther College in three (25-22, 25-21, 25-15), and won in three as well against Macalester College in their second match up of the day (25-10, 25-9, 25-10).

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST LUTHER COLLEGE
- The Falcons took all three sets of the first match (25-22, 25-21, 25-15).
- Offensively the Falcons hit .293 with 52 kills in 133 attempts.
- Sarah Langlois led the Falcons with 13 kills and hit .407 in 27 attempts. She recorded one block solo and one block assist and two digs.
- Dakotah Poitra hit .308 with 10 kills in 26 attempts.
- Hailey Huseth had 47 assists. She also recorded three aces and five digs.
- Defensively, Libero Hannah Robb led the Falcons with 24 digs.
- As a team the Falcons finished the match with 59 digs.
THE OPPOSITION
- As a team, Luther hit .178.
- They were led by Paige Steward and Jess Callahan, each recording seven kills
- Anna Jenewein finished with 21 digs.

WHAT HAPPENED
- The Falcons took their second match of the day in three sets (25-10, 25-9, 25-10)
- Overall the Falcons hit .341 with 37 kills in 88 attempts.
- Dakotah Poitra led the Falcons offensely with 11 kills; overall hitting .458.
- Mallory Griffin hit .400 (9 kills, 20 TA) and Katie Koerper had seven kills in 13 total attacks.
- The Falcons recorded nine service aces.
- Defensively Hannah Robb had 18 digs and Hailey Huseth recorded 12.
- Huseth also ecorded 25 assists.
THE OPPOSITION.
- Macalester recorded just 13 total kills with 24 errors.
- Katrina Schoen led the team with 20 digs.
LOOKING AHEAD
- The Falcons continue play at the Classic Saturday as they take on the University of Dubuque and host team St. Mary's University.
