Men's Hockey Falls to Pointers

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – After an overtime tie the night before, multiple penalties led to a 0-3 loss to UW-Stevens Point Saturday night for the UW-River Falls men's hockey team.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST UW-STEVENS POINT
  • The Pointers scored their first foal in the first period on a power play opportunity.  Ten seconds after Blake Anderson was called for hooking the Pointers scored the goal taking a 1-0 lead. 
  • Even with sixteen shots on goal in the second period neither team could find the back of the net.
  • The Pointers scored two goals in the third period.  The first came at 8:29 in the period.
  • Less than two minutes later the Pointers scored their final goal. 
  • The Falcons accumulated forty minutes of penalties in the contest.
  • The Pointers defense held the Falcons to just twelve total shots while putting thirty-five shots on goal.
  • Zach Quinn had 32 total saves in his third loss of the season.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
The Falcons travel to Northland College for a matchup February 1.  Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m.
