Women's Basketball Defeated on the Road

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The women's basketball team was defeated by UWP on the road on Saturday afternoon.  The Falcons fell 51-63.

Location:  Williams Fieldhouse, Platteville, Wis.
Record: UWRF 4-13 (0-7 WIAC), UWP 10-8 (2-5 WIAC)
 
WHAT HAPPENED
  • The Falcons shot 43.5 percent from the field in the first half, hitting 10-23, including 1-7 from three point.  The Falcons also made 3-4 from the free throw line.
  • Crystal Pearon led the Falcons in the first half scoring 12 points on 5-7 shooting from the field.
  • The Falcons scored seven points off the bench overall, two in the first half. 
  • The Falcons went into halftime down 24-34. 
  • UWRF shot 39.3 percent in the second half overall, making 11-28 field goals and making 1-10 three-pointers. The Falcons also made 4-6 from the free throw line in the half.
  • Brianna Koop and Cassie Heinrichs led the Falcons in the second half with nine points each.
  • The Falcons finished the game with 34 points in the paint, 18 in the second half.
  • The Falcons also scored 14 points off of 16 Pioneer turnovers.
 
IN-DEPTH LOOK
  • Pearson led the Falcons with 16 points off of 7-12 shooting from the field.  She also recorded four rebounds and two steals.
  • Heinrichs and Koop contributed 11 and 10 points respectively on the night.
  • UWRF made 21-51 shots (41.2 percent) from the floor in the loss. They went 2-17 from behind the arc (11.8 percent), and hit 7-10 free throws (70 percent).

THE OPPOSITION
  • UW-Platteville was led by Morgan Horstman with 17 points.
  • From the field, the Pioneers made 24-52 (46.2 percent) and 7-15 (46.7 percent) from behind the arc.  They also shot 61.5 percent from the free throw line (8-13).
