Women's Basketball Defeated by Whitewater on the Road

WHITEWATER, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The women's basketball team lost on the road on Saturday afternoon against UW-Whitewater, 45-71.

THE RUNDOWN
Final Score: UW-River Falls 45, UW-Whitewater 71
Location:  Williams Center, Whitewater, Wis.
Record: UWRF 5-16 (0-10 WIAC), UWW 19-2 (9-1 WIAC)
 
WHAT HAPPENED
  • The Falcons shot 32.4 percent from the field in the first half, hitting 11-34, including 3-12 from three point.
  • Lori Wardynski led the Falcons in the first half scoring eight points on 3-5 shooting from the field.
  • The Falcons scored just five points off the bench overall, four in the first half. 
  • The Falcons went into halftime trailing 27-45. 
  • UWRF shot 26.1 percent in the second half overall, making 6-23 field goals and making 1-5 three-pointers (20 percent).  They also hit 5-8 of their second half free throws.
  • Wardynski led the Falcons in the second half with 10 points on 4-8 shooting.
  • The Falcons finished the game with 24 points in the paint, 10 in the second half.
  • The Falcons also scored eight points off of 18 Warhawk turnovers.
  • UWRF scored just seven 2nd chance points in the game off of 12 offensive rebounds.
  • River Falls finished the game with 35 rebounds and seven steals.

  • Wardynski led the Falcons with 18 points off of 7-13 shooting from the field.  She also recorded five rebounds and was perfect at the free throw line (4-4).
  • Crystal Pearson finished the game with 11 points on the night.
  • UWRF made 17-57 shots (29.8 percent) from the floor in the loss. They went 4-17 from behind the arc (23.5 percent), and hit 7-10 free throws (70 percent).

THE OPPOSITION
  • Whitewater was led by Becky Raeder and Rebekah Schumacher with 16 points each.
