Women's Soccer Downed by Pointers

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's soccer team was defeated 3-0 at UW-Stevens Point Saturday afternoon.
 
The home team claimed a one-goal advantage in the first half, scoring just under 11 minutes in and taking a 1-0 lead into the break.
 
After the first 45 minutes, UWSP held a 15-3 shot advantage and had eight corner kick opportunities.
 
The Pointers' Kati Friedrich scored her second goal of the game at the 63rd minute to put UWSP up 2-0, followed by another Pointer goal near the end of regulation to seal the 3-0 victory.
 
UWRF put together a stronger offensive output in the second half, tallying nine shots with three corner kicks, but were unable to push anything past Pointer netminder Miranda Nieman.
 
Falcon goalkeeper Kaylie Krueger made eight saves in goal while suffering the loss. Aliviah McClinton led UWRF with two shots on goal.
 
The Falcons continue their WIAC road schedule next Wednesday, Oct. 20 at UW-Stout.
