MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota – The UW-River Falls women's volleyball team went 2-0 at the Augsburg Triangular taking down Luther College 3-0 and Augsburg University 3-1. With the two wins the Falcons improve to 14-13 on the season.
UWRF 3, Luther 0
In match one, the Falcons took set one 25-23. The Norse out hit the Falcons .333 to .229 but a kill and service ace by
Sarah Langlois gave the Falcons the edge.
In sets two and three the Falcons held the Norse to hitting .063 and .073 while the Falcons hit .300 and .239. Each set the Falcons hit 14 kills. They won set two 25-13 and the third 25-16.
Sarah Langlois led the offense with a season high 15 kills. She added two aces and two blocks to her performance.
Katie Koerper had eight kills and six digs.
Haley Cuba led the defense with 12 kills and assisted on 31 points.
UWRF 3, Augsburg 1
The Falcons continued their dominance into the first set of match two holding the Auggies to a 0 hitting percentage and only 17 points.
Set two started out as a back-and-forth battle with the Auggies taking a 23-18 lead and the Falcons looking down for the count. The Falcons came back with a five-point run to tie it up 23-23 and then two kills by
Katie Koerper gave the Falcons the two-point lead to win 31-29.
The Auggies took set three 25-18 but the Falcons came back in the fourth hitting a match high .226 and winning 25-15.
Sami Hilley had the offensive night of her career recording a season high 20 kills. Other top offensive performers were
Katie Koerper with 16 kills and
Sarah Langlois with 10.
Haley Cuba and
Brooke Voigt each had 18 digs.
