RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's soccer came back from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw during a WIAC matchup versus UW-Platteville on Saturday afternoon at Ramer Soccer Stadium.
Down 2-0 heading into the waning moments of the match, the Falcons (5-7-2, 0-1-1 WIAC) stormed back to tie up the score with a pair of goals within the final ten minutes of regulation. Neither team found the back of the net in the two overtime periods.
UW-Platteville scored early on and carried a 1-0 lead into halftime. The Pioneers held an 11-3 shot advantage heading into the break.
The visitors took a two-goal advantage at the 69th minute despite the Falcons responding well with stronger play in the second half.
At the 82nd minute, a great set piece from
Kelly Patras was headed in the box by
Alayna Westerman and headed in to the goal by
Kassidy Mackie to trim the UWP lead to 2-1.
Riding the momentum of their first goal of the game, the Falcons kept the pressure on the Pioneers and
Madyson Shew scored her team-leading 10th goal of the season on Westerman's second assist of the game.
Kaylie Krueger made four saves in goal while her record moves to 5-5-1 on the year.
The Falcons were dressed in blue tops in support of The Emily Program, as part of Kick For A Cure. UWRF hits the road next for a WIAC matchup at UW-Stout on Wednesday, Oct. 20.
