FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's basketball team earned a non-conference win at Marian University Tuesday evening, defeating the Sabres 75-48.
The Falcons improve to 3-2 overall with their third consecutive win while recording season-highs with 18 assists and 19 steals.
UWRF forced 32 Marian turnovers and led 16-2 in fast break points. The Falcons shot 26-of-63 from the field, 9-of-20 from the field, and 14-of-20 at the free throw line.
Three Falcons scored in double figures, led by a 16-point effort by
Macy Nilsen.
Jenna Zeman and Colie Fustice followed with 14 and 10 points, respectively.
Katelyn Karch added a team-high five assists off the bench.
The visiting Falcons jumped out to a 10-point lead after the first quarter and maintained a double-digit advantage fo the majority of the second frame. A Zeman jumper with seconds remaining in the half gave UWRF a 43-32 lead heading into the locker room.
Despite its shooting numbers decreasing in the second half, the Falcons played strong defense, limiting Marian to just 16 points through the final 20 minutes.
UW-River Falls returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 27 with another non-conference road game at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa.
