Falcons down Blue Devils 57-35 in Menomonie

MENOMONIE, Wis. – The UW-River Falls football team improved to 7-2 overall and 4-2 within the WIAC with a 57-35 road win on Saturday afternoon at UW-Stout.

UWRF compiled 666 yards of total offense, including a season-high 325 rushing yards led by running back Luke Fugate. Fugate rushed for a career-high 247 yards with three rushing touchdowns from 65, 43, and 74 yards out.

Quarterback Kole Hinrichsen threw four passing touchdowns, completing 26-of-39 passes for 306 yards - his second most this season since his career-high total of 325 at Northwestern (Sept. 18). With his four passing TD's, he broke a UWRF school record with his 22nd of the season. Ben Beckman previously had the most with 19 in 2019.

The Falcons jumped out to a 13-0 lead with touchdown passes from Hinrichsen to Charlie Huschka and Andy Groebner. Groebner broke a UWRF single-season school record with his 10th receiving touchdown of the season.

Stout blocked Cade Henry's PAT attempt after UWRF's second score and on the ensuing drive, the Blue Devils' Arthur Cox broke past the UWRF defense for a 65-yard touchdown reception, trimming the Falcon lead to 13-7 early in the second quarter.

Hinrichsen completed his third TD pass of the first half with 9:46 remaining, a 20-yard reception to Jager Reissman.

Luke Fugate increased the Falcons' lead to 27-7 with a career-long 65 rushing score.

The Falcon defense limited UW-Stout to just six rushing yards while tallying three sacks, leading by 20 points at the break.

Despite the home team tallying 21 points in the final quarter, the Falcons scored 21 points of their own in the four quarter, along with a Cade Henry field goal and a Hinrichsen 32-yard passing TD to Brady Agrimson in the third quarter.

Two of Fugate's three rushing scores came in the fourth quarter, along with one from Kaleb Blaha

Reissman collected a career-high 121 receiving yards.

Defensively, Dominique Turner and Aaron Borgerding led the team with five tackles each. Kyle Burkhardt tallied 1.5 sacks for a loss of 10 Blue Devil yards.
