ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The UW-River Falls women's basketball team dropped its 2021-22 season opener at Bethel University Tuesday evening, falling by a score of 92-47.

UWRF struggled to find a consistent shooting stride with a 25 percent field goal ledger, while Bethel shot 50 percent from the floor.

The Royals got off to a strong start, jumping out to a 13-3 advantage just over four minutes into the contest. UWRF responded though on a 10-7 run in the next four minutes, with an Annie Feine jumper trimming the BU lead to 20-13.

Bethel shot 10-of-15 from the field while the Falcons struggled and shot under 40 percent, trailing 29-16 through the first 10 minutes.

In the second quarter, the home team extended its lead into double digits with consistent shooting and scoring in the paint.

Bethel led 52-30 at halftime, shooting over 60 percent from the field. UWRF shot 11-off-33 at the break, including a mark of 5-of-17 from three-point range with a pair from Cassie Heinrichs.

The home team put the game out of reach for the Falcons in the third quarter, limiting UWRF to just two points to take a 43-point lead heading into the final frame.

Heinrichs led the Falcons with nine points, followed by eight from Averie Varsho and seven from Jenna Zeman. Feine notched a team-high five rebounds.
