UW-River Falls women's hockey continued to make their presence known in the WIAC, moving to 5-0 on the year after traveling to UW-Superior and taking down the Yellow Jackets by a score of 4-1.
It wasn't as cut and dry as a performance that the Falcons have grown accustomed to this season; in fact, it was UW- Superior scoring first just under 10 minutes into the game. That lead would hold until the end of the first period, the first time this season UW-River lost any single period. However, Brooke Walters got the job done for the Falcons, typing the game at one goal apiece at 12:08 in the second from the assists from Reilly Springman and Sophia Leong.
As the game moved into the third, the Falcons cranked up the dial on offense and punched in three goals in less than 15 minutes. The first to light the lamp was Kora Torkelson with assists going to Alex Hantge and Callie Hoff. Maddie McCollins then found her opportunity at 14:37 after the great teamwork of Braelyn Sathers and Aubrey Nelvin, and Reilly Springman was shortly behind with a goal of her own to solidify the win 4-1 at 16:12 from the assistance of Kiana Gilbraith.
Jordan O'Connor received the win on the night in goal, the first career win between the pipes for the freshman.
The Falcons will put their undefeated record on the line at home Friday February, 19 at 7:05 versus the same Yellow Jackets.
