After a couple of game cancellations and reschedules, the UW-River Falls Falcons women's lacrosse team was finally able to get back on the field. Looking to increase their win streak to five in a row, the Falcons traveled across the border to Minnesota to take on the Pipers of Hamline University.
If there was any doubt the streak would continue, those doubts were removed early as the Falcons sprinted out to an early lead and never looked back, cruising to a 17-5 victory.
The first half of the game was filled with 10 goals by the Falcons. Emily Herdine started things off, scoring the first goal of the game just under a minute and a half in. Then, junior Emma Kohlbeck scored three goals all within three minutes of each other. The Pipers retaliated back with 2 goals, but the Falcons refused to let that deter them.
At the half, the Falcons led the Pipers, 10-3. The Falcons out shot the Pipers 21-11 in the first half an UW-RF junior goaltender Ashley Olson make five saves to hold down the fort.
To begin the second half, the Falcons again scored the first goal as Kohlbeck scored her fourth goal of the game less than a minute into the half. The Falcons went on a four goal spree, but the Pipers answered back with a goal of their own. Again, the Falcons were not fazed by the goal, and tallied another three goals onto their score.
Finally, the Falcons finished the half with seven more goals, reigning supreme over the Pipers by a score of 17-5.
The win brings the Falcons season record to 5-1. During their five game win streak, UW-RF has outscored their opponents by an incredible margin of 85-36.
Up next, the Falcons will be on the road again on Saturday, April 10 at Carroll University. Game time is set for 3pm.
