Faced with the daunting task of taking on the #2 seeded UW-Whitewater on the road in the WIAC tournament, the UW-River Falls Falcons gave it their best effort but ultimately fell to the Warhawks 9-0.
After a routine first inning for both teams, the Falcons threatened in the second inning after
Tayler Fall got on base with a leadoff single.
With some strategic small ball play, Fall advanced to third and then the bases were loaded after a
Lindsey Strom walk. Unfortunately, a change at pitcher for the Warhawks was enough to get them out of the inning unscaved.
In their half of the inning, the Warhawks got their bats going, hitting two home runs and scoring five runs total in the inning.
From there, UW-RF was kept at bay with the UW-WW defense and pitching locked in. The Warhawks sprinkled a few more runs in over the last few innings and came away with a 9-0 victory.
With the loss, the Falcons' season comes to an end with an 11-18 record.
On the season, there were many notable performances but many Falcon players.Â
Johanna Breyen finished with a team high .447 batting average, fourth best in the WIAC.
Juliana Reynolds pitched 95 innings on the year and struck out 74 batters, both good for fourth in the league.
