RIVER FALLS, Wis. — Andy Eggerth was named the University of Wisconsin-River Falls head track & field coach on Monday, Aug. 23, as announced by Athletics Director Crystal Lanning.

Eggerth brings 21 years of experience to River Falls, including stops at a trio of Division I schools. Most recently, he served as the jumps and combined events coach at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley for two seasons. He helped guide UTRGV to a combined four third place finishes at Western Athletic Conference Championships, including the top three finishes in the women's long jump at the WAC Outdoor Championships in 2021.

"I'd like to thank Crystal Lanning for this opportunity," said Eggerth. "We share a common vision of building UWRF into a championship caliber program while providing an outstanding and well-rounded student-athlete experience. Everywhere I've been, my vision has been one of constant growth and improvement so I look forward to using this expertise to lead the Falcons to new heights; something the alumni and community will take great pride in."

A two-time NCAA South Region Head Coach of the Year and an 18-time Atlantic Sun Conference Coach of the Year, Eggerth developed 21 All-Americans, 72 NCAA qualifiers, 277 conference champions, 690 all-conference performers and 62 academic all-conference performers while at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Ga., where he was the Director of Track and Field and Cross Country from 2010-18. During his time in Kennesaw, he also led the Owls to 18 ASUN Team Championships, reached the NCAA Championships each season, and led his student-athletes to 54 conference record-setting performances.

"I am excited to welcome Coach Eggerth to UW-River Falls to lead the men's and women's track and field programs," Lanning commented. "He has had coaching success at the highest level of track and field, and his talent for developing student-athletes will allow him to further elevate our programs."

Before his tenure at Kennesaw State, Eggerth spent four years as an assistant track & field and cross country coach at Kansas State University, where he worked with sprinters and hurdlers while assisting with mid-distance and distance student-athletes. On top of his coaching duties, Eggerth also served as the assistant recruiting coordinator, assisted with fundraising and alumni relations, and managed equipment and apparel.

Eggerth began his collegiate coaching career at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, where he spent three years working with the sprinters, jumpers, hurdlers and multi athletes. His student-athletes achieved 13 program records and seven freshman records.

"Many people ask, 'why go from DI to DIII?,'" Eggerth mentioned. "To me it's an opportunity to clear some of the clutter and focus on what it's really about: serving hungry student-athletes that are passionate about the sport itself. I receive great joy watching those under my tutelage surprise themselves when they do something they never imagined they were capable of, and I'm looking forward to a whole lot of that."

In 2018, Eggerth founded MultiStars Track Club and Consulting in Atlanta, Ga. MultiStars is a non-profit organization with the primary goal of developing post-collegiate athletes. He coached, provided therapeutic support and consultation for teams and individuals, and was involved with various speaking engagements.

He was also an instructor for the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Coaches Academy and wrote the physiology curriculum. He holds the International Association of Athletics Federation's Level 5 "Elite Coach" certification in sprints and hurdles, USA Track & Field (USATF) level 3 certification in the Jumps, USTFCCCA certification in the combined events and throws, and has been to USATF level 2 certification schools in distance events, combined events, jumps, and throws. He is a certified strength and conditioning coach and has taken the USTFCCCA's javelin, high jump, and combined events master coach certifications.

As a student-athlete, Eggerth competed collegiately at Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minn., breaking 16 school records, one conference record while qualifying in five events for the NCAA Division II Championships.

Eggerth is a native of Spring Lake Park, Minn., and earned bachelor's degrees in physical education and sport management from BSU. He then received a master's degree in exercise science from Syracuse University in 2002.
