CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The UW-River Falls volleyball team took Coe College to five sets Friday evening at the Cornell College Invite.
The Kohawks, who are 4-2 on the season, came out strong in the first set holding the Falcons to just 14 points. The Falcons turned the tides in the second and third sets winning both sets 25-17. The Falcon offense dominated outhitting the Kohawks .250 to -.027 in the second and .259 to 0 in the third set.
A Coe win in the fourth set tied the match up and a close fifth set went in the favor of Coe as they won the set 15-12.
Three Falcons had double digit kills on the night.
Sami Hilley led the way with 11 total kills and
Katie Koerper and
Kameri Meredith each had 10.
Both Meredith and Koerper had a double-double night collecting 17 and 12 digs respectively. Brooke Voight had a game high 21 digs to lead the defense.
Haley Cuba had a season high 39 assists and added four service aces to her performance.
The Falcons face off against Cornell College on day two of the Invite. First match will begin at 10 a.m.
