CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The UW-River Falls volleyball team finished their final day at the Cornell College Invite Saturday with two tough losses to Cornell and Grinnell.
Cornell 3, UWRF 1
The Falcons took set one 25-21 outhitting Cornell .267 to .143. The Rams took the second set 25-13. The third and fourth sets were close battle but went in favor of the Rams 25-23 and 25-23.
Sarah Langlois led the attach with nine kills. Following her was
Katie Koerper and
Sami Hilley each with eight kills.
On the defensive side,
Brooke Voigt let the Falcons with 15 digs. Hilley and
Kameri Meredith each had three blocks. Meredith added 14 digs to her performance.
Grinnell 3, UWRF 0
Grinnell jumped on the Falcons early hitting .440 in the first set and taking it 25-16.
The Falcons came back in the second set hitting .229 and extending out the set to a 24-26 loss. In the third set, the Falcons held Grinnell to their lowest kill total and hitting percentage of the day but it was not enough as they fell 19-25.
Leading the offense was
Brooke Voigt with six kills and
Lauren Shields led the defense with nine digs.
Sami Hilley was named to the Cornell Classic All-Tournament Team.
