CONWAY, Ark. - The University of Wisconsin-River Falls football team improved to 2-0 on the year with a 49-33 win at Hendrix College Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons compiled 514 yards of total offense to down the Warriors, who received votes in the most recent D3football.com Division III Top 25 poll.
Quarterback
Kole Hinrichsen totaled three touchdowns with 218 passing yards, while
Anthony Silva and
Luke Fugate each rushed for over 100 yards - career-bests for both.
A strong first half for UWRF led the visitors to a 35-6 lead heading into the break. Fugate led the Falcons in the first half with a pair of rushing touchdowns inside the goal line along with an 11-yard TD reception from Hinrichsen.
Andy Groebner also collected his fourth score of the season, a 34-yard pass from Hinrichsen in the first quarter to put UWRF up 14-0.
Hendrix battled back in the second half, scoring twice in the third quarter to trim the Falcons' lead to 35-19, but a short
Ben Beise rush put the Falcons up 42-19 to give UWRF enough cushion for victory.Â
The Warriors added a pair of scores in the fourth quarter put Silva's second touchdown of the game from 10 yards out helped seal the road win.
Defensively, UWRF limited Hendrix to under 100 yards rushing, and were led by seven tackles each from
Dylan Brown,
Conrad Gingg, and
Bailey Germain.
Kwashon Collins added a pair of sacks, three tackles for loss, and a forced fumble while
Aaron Borgerding recorded two interceptions.
Beise led the receiving core with nine catches for 55 yards.
Cade Henry for the second consecutive game was perfect on PAT attempts, going 7-for-7.

The Falcons have one more nonconference contest before heading into Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action, traveling to St. Paul, Minn., to face the University of Northwestern on Sept. 18 at 6 p.m.
