Volleyball Sweeps a Pair of Saturday Opponents

RIPON, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-River Falls volleyball team earned a pair of sweeps over Luther College and Rockford College on Saturday to wrap up competition at the Ripon College Invitational.
 
The Falcons improve to .500 on the season with a 7-7 overall record while going unbeaten with four consecutive wins during the tournament.
 
UW-River Falls 3, Luther 0
The Falcons made quick work of the Norse (25-16, 25-20, 25-15) to open the day with their second consecutive wins in three sets after a 3-0 victory over Ripon last night.

Katie Koerper led the attack with 13 kills, followed by nine from Sarah Langlois, and seven from Sami Hilley.

Langlois also added nine blocks while Brooke Voigt tallied a team-high 15 digs. Haley Cuba set up the offense with 33 assists.

As a team, UWRF hit .262 and limited Luther to a .050 hitting percentage. The Falcons' seven blocks were a season-high for a three-set match.
 
UW-River Falls 3, Rockford 0
The Falcons continued its strong Saturday performance versus Rockford, winning 25-16, 25-6, and 25-17.

UWRF attacked at an impressive rate of .696 in the second frame, with 16 kills and zero errors. On the match, the Falcons hit .371 with 46 kills, while limiting Rockford to a .058 attack percentage.

Koerper totaled 10 kills and Kate Seymour led the defense with 12 digs.
 
Katie Koerper and Haley Cuba were both recognized on the All-Tournament Team.
 
Up Next
The Falcons head back into Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
