MORRIS, Minn. - The UW-River Falls volleyball team picked up a 3-1 nonconference win over Minnesota-Morris Wednesday evening.
The Falcons who are now 3-3 on the season jumped out quick in the first set taking a 10-3 lead. The Cougars clawed their way back tying the set up and eventually taking the final lead 25-23.
The Falcons controlled the remainder of the match taking the final three sets 25-16, 25-16 25-17.
The Falcons out hit the Cougars .164 to .055. They combined for 47 kills.
Katie Koerper led the attack with eleven kills and served up four aces.
Brenna Bieniek had nine kills.
Leading the defense was
Kameri Meredith with 16 digs, two blocks and four serving aces. She added eight kills to her performance.
"It was a solid win for us. Our passing and serving game were very strong and took UM-Morris out of system," said Head Coach
Patti Ford. "We are getting stronger and more confident as a team which will help us as we go into the weekend and as we approach WIAC play."
