WHITEWATER, Wis. - The UW-River Falls women's basketball team fell by a score of 86-62 Saturday evening at No. 8-ranked UW-Whitewater.
UWRF falls to 7-7 overall and 0-5 during WIAC play, while the Warhawks improve to 15-1 overall and 6-0 in the WIAC.
The Falcons made a season-high 12 three-pointers, shooting just under 40 percent from beyond the arc.
Whitewater opened the game with a strong first quarter, shooting 13-of-17 from the field and scoring 32 points in the opening 10 minutes, which proved to be too much for the Falcons.
The Warhawks extended their lead into the 20's in the second quarter and led by 25 at halftime.
UWRF outscored UWW 35-34 in the second half but couldn't cut into the Warhawk lead.
Four Falcons scored in double figures, led by 13 points from Jenna Zeman. Cassie Heinrichs followed with 11 points while Colie Justice and Katelyn Karch each had 10. Zeman also led UWRF with six rebounds and a season-high six assists.
UW-River Falls is next scheduled to face No. 11-ranked UW-Eau Claire on Wednesday, Jan. 19 in Eau Claire, Wis.
