ROCKFORD, Ill. – The UW-River Falls volleyball team split Friday night at the Rockford Triangular picking up a win against Rockford before falling to St. Norbert in five sets.
UW-River Falls 3, Rockford 0
The Falcons started the afternoon off with a shutout win holding Rockford to just 15 points in each of the three sets defeating them 25-15, 25-15, 25-20, and 25-15.
The Falcons had one of their best offensive performances hitting .262 as a team and collecting 46 kills while holding Rockford to just 19 kills and a .067 hitting percentage. Their best performance of the match came in the second set when they hit .303.
Kameri Meredith led the Falcons offensively with 12 kills and collected 12 digs for a double double.
Brenna Olson led the defense with 17 digs.
St. Norbert 3, UW-River Falls 2
The Falcons had a slow start in the first set falling behind the Knights 5-10 before going on a point run to take the lead. The two teams battled back and forth with the Falcons coming out on top winning the first set 26-24.
UWRF took the second set 25-15 before falling 19-25 to St, Norbert in the third. In the fourth, the two teams tied the game up nine times before the Knights took the win 25-23. The final set went to the Knights who won 15-12.
The Falcons outhit St. Norbert .190 to .181 with
Sami Hilley leading the offense with 15 kills.
Brenna Olson had 22 digs.
The Falcons travel to Naperville, Ill. Saturday for the North Central Tournament. They face Alma in the opening game before facing off against host North Central.
