Women's Hockey Shuts Out Pointers in WIAC Opener

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The No. 6-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team scored three goals in the third period to give them their first WIAC win of the season.  The Falcons defeated UW-Stevens Point 4-0.
 
Megan Goodreau scored her first collegiate goal giving the Falcons a 1-0 lead through the first and second periods.  Assisting her on the goal was Maddie McCollins and Jessica Rubenalt.

After a scoreless second period, the Falcons came to life scoring three goals in the third.  The first came seven minutes into the period when Makenna Aure scored on a pass from Madison Lavergne.  Lavergne followed it up with her own goal at 10:13 in the period on a rebounded save. 

Aure finished out the night with her second goal of the night, a power play goal at 15:03

Sami Miller earned the win in net, making eleven saves for her 16th career shutout, breaking the UWRF all-time shutout record. Angie Hall held the previous record with 15.

The Falcons travel to Northland College Saturday afternoon for a 2 p.m. WIAC game.
