ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The UW-River Falls women's basketball team improved to 2-0 on the year and weekend with an 86-52 win at Crown College on Saturday.
Freshman
Zoey Buchan led the Falcons for the second consecutive night, scoring 15 points off 7-of-12 shooting from the field. 13 different Falcons found their way into the scoring column, including 12 points from
Cassie Heinrichs and 10 from
Macy Nilsen to supplement Buchan's effort.
Olivia Miron had a team-high six rebounds and Karleigh Creasy led the team with six assists.
UWRF shot over 50 percent from the field and 9-of-25 from beyond the arc while holding the Polars to under 40 percent shooting. The Falcons also held a 35-21 edge in rebounds.
The Falcon jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter, gaining a 28-5 advantage through the first 10 minutes, which was enough room for the Falcons to maintain a lead for the remainder of regulation.
UWRF scored 21 points off Crown turnovers and led 36-14 in the paint.
The Falcons have another nonconference road game at Augsburg University on Tuesday.
