RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The UW-River Falls men's hockey team fell 3-0 Friday night in their WIAC opener against UW-Superior.
The Yellowjackets quickly took the lead in the first period scoring three goals before the first period break.
UWRF outshot Superior 36-31. The Yellowjackets goaltender Dylan Mellun had a night collecting 36 saves. He kept the Falcons off the board with multiple impressive saves.
The third period was plagued with penalties. Between the two teams 14 penalties were assessed.
Dean Buchholz started the game in goal giving up three goals in the first period before being replaced by
Dysen Skinner in the final two periods. Skinner collected 19 saves.
The Falcons continue conference play Saturday against UW-Eau Claire.
