RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The No. 6-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team faced off against No. 8-ranked UW-Eau Claire Saturday night at Hunt Arena. The Falcons defeated the Blugolds 3-2.
The Blugolds got on the board first scoring at 4:30 in the first period. They maintained that lead through the first period break.
In the second period, the Falcons tied it up 1-1 with a power play goal by Makenna Aure at the 7:41. The Blugolds answered back retaking the lead at 11:20.
Alex Hantge tied the game back up 2-2 on a breakaway goal.
Aubrey Nelvin scored the eventual game winning goal at 15:01 in the third period giving the Falcons the 3-2 edge.
Sami Miller tallied eleven shots to earn her fourth win of the season. The Falcons outshot the Blugolds 33-13 and were led by Makenna Aure who had six shots, one goal and one assist.
The Falcons travel to St. Olaf for a Tuesday night nonconference matchup. Puck drop is slatted for 7 pm.
