IN THE POLLS

• UWRF moved up from No. 7 to No. 6 in this week's USCHO Division III Women's Hockey Poll, garnering 170 points.
• The Falcons were picked to finish first in the WIAC Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
  • Last season, UWRF posted its conference-best eighth first-place finish last season and won the WIAC Tournament (O'Brien Cup) for the seventh time. UWRF's 27 victories a season ago established a program record and the Falcons received a NCAA bid for the 13th time in program archives. UW-River Falls also put together a conference-best 20-game winning streak.

FALCON NOTES

• UWRF picked up its first win of the 2022-23 season last Friday, Nov. 4 at Saint Mary's University, defeating the Cardinals 5-2.
  • The Falcons were led by a hat-trick from Maddie McCollins, the first of her career, and three assists from freshman Kaitlyn Ronn.
  • Sami Miller earned the win in net, making 24 saves.
• Through two games, UWRF has averaged 33.5 shots on net, and is 2-for-8 on the power play.
