RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's basketball team earned a nonconference win over Eureka College Sunday afternoon at Page Arena, defeating the Red Devils 99-53.
The Falcons' 99 points is the most since UWRF defeated Crown College 112-28 in 2009.
UWRF improved to 8-2 overall and 4-0 at Page Arena, totaling a season-high 35 field goals, 56.5 field goal percentage, 20 assists, and 19 made free throws. A collective scoring effort featured six Falcons with double-digit point totals, led by
Julia Seidel's season-high 14 points.
Karleigh Creasey notched a season-high with seven assists.
The home team got off to a roaring start, shooting 60 percent in the first quarter to lead 31-16 heading into the second period. A Seidel layup late in the first half gave the Falcons a 25-point lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Falcons made six triples and were 8-of-12 at the charity stripe in the third quarter, extending their lead to 51 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Falcons held a 42-33 edge in rebound, scored 28 points off Eureka turnovers, and 19 fast break points.
Along with Seidel's 14 points,
Macy Nilsen followed 13 points, 12 from
Zoey Buchan, 11 from
Kameri Meredith, and 10 each from Creasey and
Averie Varsho. Seven Falcons shared the team-lead with four rebounds each.
UWRF heads to Bethany Lutheran College on Wednesday.
