Nilsen's double-double paces Falcons' road win at Bethany Lutheran

MANKATO, Minn. – The UW-River Falls women's basketball team won 66-55 at Bethany Lutheran College Wednesday evening.

The Falcons improve to 9-2 overall with their fourth consecutive win.

Macy Nilsen led UWRF with a double-double, totaling 19 points along with a career-high 13 rebounds. Julia Seidel followed with a career-high 15 points.

A back-and-forth effort had 12 lead changes. After an even 17-17 first frame, the Falcons held the Vikings to eight points in the second and led 29-25 at halftime.

Quickly into the second half, a Nilsen triple gave the Falcons a nine-point lead, and UWRF for the next seven minutes until BLC clawed back to take a 41-40 lead with just over two minutes left in the third quarter.

The Falcons and Vikings exchanged five more leads before three-straight Falcon three-pointers from Karleigh Creasey, Zoey Buchan, and another from Creasey put UWRF up 57-50 with five minutes left in regulation, enough room for the visitors to close out the win.

UWRF held a 44-30 edge in rebounds and scored 22 points off Viking turnovers.

The Falcons have next week off before returning to action Dec. 30-31 at the UW-Superior Shootout Holiday Classic.
