SUPERIOR, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's basketball team defeated UW-Superior 63-47 Saturday afternoon at the Yellowjackets' Shootout Holiday Classic.
The Falcons improve to 11-2 overall and went 2-0 at the Holiday Classic after defeating Finlandia University yesterday.
UWRF shot 44 percent from the field and 6-of-18 from beyond the arc. UWRF also led 30-14 in the paint and held the Yellowjackets to 30 percent shooting.
Macy Nilsen led the Falcons with 14 points while
Zoey Buchan was one rebound shy of a double-double, totaling 13 points and nine boards.
Trailing 14-12 after the first stanza, UWRF scored 16 points in the second period to lead 28-24 at halftime.
The Falcons outscored Superior 19-8 in the third quarter to earn enough room to coast to victory in the fourth.
UWRF heads back into WIAC play next Wednesday, Jan. 4, hosting UW-Stout.
