RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's basketball team fell 74-59 to UW-Stout Wednesday evening at Page Arena in the opening game of the calendar year.
The loss snaps the Falcons' six-game winning streak as UWRF's record dips to 11-3 overall and 1-2 during WIAC competition.
Four Blue Devils starters scored in double figures while the Falcons were led by
Macy Nilsen's season-high 26 points off 9-of-17 shooting from the field along with a 4-of-7 clip from beyond the arc.
A strong Blue Devil second quarter made the difference, as UW-Stout outscored UWRF 25-14 in the second frame to lead by 13 at halftime.
While the visitors outscored UWRF by the slim margin of 34-32 in the second half, they led by as many as 21 with two minutes left in the third quarter and maintained a double-digit advantage for the rest of regulation.
UWRF was held to under 40 percent shooting from the field and Stout led 43-27 in rebounds.
Kameri Meredith scored 12 points with a team-high four rebounds off the bench.
The Falcons host UW-Oshkosh this Saturday at Page Arena.
