ST. PAUL, Minn. – The UW-River Falls men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Macalester College Invitational on Saturday. The men tallied 58 team points to finish sixth of eight teams while the women totaled 54 points to place sixth of nine teams.
The meet served as the Falcons' final tune-up before next weekend's WIAC Outdoor Championships, set to take place on the campus of UW-La Crosse May 6-7.
On the men's side, UWRF recorded four top-five finishes, including a runner-up 400-meter hurdle time of 58.89 from
Matt Boche, collecting eight team points.
Alex VanGundy finished third of 16 in the javelin, with a personal best throw of 145 feet, nine inches.
Ryan Kelling also notched three team points with a 133-6 javelin throw and
Brady Sindelir finished fourth of 16 in the shot put at 40-0.5.
Charlie Theis totaled seven points after finishing fifth in the long jump (19-6.25) along with a sixth place 110-meter hurdle time of 16.71.
Joel Alexander collected six points with a third-place pole vault of 12-9.5.
The Falcon women's field athletes garnered 40 team points, led by
Kimi Robertson's runner-up pole vault at 11-10.5, a season-best mark.
UWRF was also paced by
Jackie Rosenbush, who had a third-place hammer throw of 138-11, and fourth place shot put of 34-9.5.
Katie Haase also took fourth in the discus with a throw of 116-11.
Zena Jiardini took fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:14.51, and
Kyla Kubera brought the team three points with a sixth-place 100-meter dash time of 13.65.
